About the zine: I created this little zine project to highlight the things I love about the place where I live and call home.
Challenge
One of the biggest challenges was deciding which parts of my story to share and how to balance personal narrative with universal themes that others could connect with. I also had to carefully choose images that best reflected both the story and the sense of place. Since I wanted the zine to feel more visual and less text-heavy, figuring out how much content to include was another challenge—especially since this was my first zine.
Design
The design process was a lot less linear than I intended, and I struggled with creating something without a set visual identity—even though each spread shares some similar visual elements. I tried to use a rough, hand-drawn style, which felt like a natural inclination for me. In the end, I wish I had added more content and personal stories, but I’ll keep that lesson in mind for my next zine.
